a healthy mind in a healthy body”.

Our Approach to Teaching

Vivacity Chess is an affiliate of the United States Chess Federation (USCF).

National Chess master and professional instructor Aleksandr Kitsis, found Vivacity, Inc. to provide chess learning programs in a supportive, relaxed environment for children. Lessons are also available for adults, teachers, parents and chess coaches.

Parents:
Would you like your child to unleash his/her hidden intellectual potential?
Would you like to improve the focus, concentration and self-esteem of your child?

Teachers:
Would you like to see your students excel in math and language arts?
Could your school use help in raising pupils’ proficiency test scores?

Vivacity’s approach to teaching chess is based on the belief that chess has a lot more to teach young students than raw competition. GM Gabriel Schwartzman noted that “decision making skills, power of concentration [and] ability to think ahead, are just some of the qualities that have clearly shown to be developed and strengthened by chess. Add to this the effects of an improved self esteem and you get an array of the most valuable intellectual qualities that student should have perfected. Chess does for the brain just what sport does for the body: it helps it grow and develop.”

Vivacity uses chess as a tool to unleash students’ hidden intellectual potential with the ultimate goal is to make children successful in life by developing their logic and imagination, self-confidence and focus, strategic thinking and creativity, speed and clarity of mind. In the process of developing their inner-self children will become better players as well. Children who practice and develop skills will reap rewards. The confidence they develop extends to other areas of their academic and emotional lives.

As parents of Vivacity students, you will begin to see the advantages of developing the above skills set and how mastery of these skills serves to increase your child's understanding in other areas, such as language arts, math, social skills and self-discipline.

More than 200 years ago, Benjamin Franklin observed that "the game of chess is not merely an idle amusement. Several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired and strengthened by chess, so as to become habits, ready on all occasions." Just like polishing a diamond increases its value tremendously, by polishing the mind, chess unleashes more of the mind's hidden potential. If You are serious about taking your game and your intellectual qualities to the next level, Vivacity offers various programs. Each of our programs is a cost-effective way to inspire and empower children to succeed, one move at a time.
