In his Hall of Fame speech and private discussions, Milan Vukcevich defended the evolution of chess. He believed that chess in any form has an important role in our society, the role of developing inner potential and preparing children for future challenges. Giving a scholastic event the name of GM Vukcevich will create a symbolic bridge between Milan's deeds and the generations of young players. Hopefully his ideas and his spirit will carry on through scholastic chess events. The chess community will become richer by absorbing his ideas, open minded nature, and fighting spirit.

  • Premier Section: Trophies awarded to the top player

Individual Trophies will be awarded based on each participant's 7 best (of 9) results (a player must play in at least seven events to be eligible for a Super Cup Trophy). Any player whose USCF rating changes during the year will change Sections, but will keep his or her previously earned points (however, players are eligible for Trophies only in the Section that they participate in for over 50% of their tournaments); points earned in the Jr. Varsity Division will not be counted toward Super Cup trophies. If two or more players tie for a trophy there will be a blitz PLAYOFF: with white having 5 minutes and black having 4, however, in the event that a draw occurs black will be declared a winner.

    TEAM TROPHIES:
awarded to the best 3 Varsity Teams overall.

3 or more players from the same school/university make up a team; the best three individual results after each tournament will be counted toward the total team score. Teammates may play in either of the VARSITY Sections; there may be a different mix of players representing the same school/university in each tournament. Teams must play in at least five tournaments to be eligible for Team Trophies; trophies will be awarded based on the cumulative results of the five best tournaments. If two or more teams tie for a trophy there will be a blitz (G/5) PLAYOFF between the teams right after the last event.
